Job Description

At Jacobs, we do more than design roads—we create transportation solutions that improve safety, enhance mobility, and connect communities. If you're passionate about highway and roadway design and want to work on projects that shape Wisconsin's transportation network, join our team as an experienced Highway Engineer. When you join us, you'll be responsible for:
  • Preparing highway and roadway designs for WisDOT urban and rural projects, including interchanges, corridors, and major reconstruction efforts.
  • Developing detailed plans, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and design documentation for state highway projects.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers to deliver complex highway design solutions.
  • Participating in quality control reviews and assist with project coordination throughout all design phases.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation focus preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wisconsin
  • 4-8 years of roadway/highway design experience, including WisDOT projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with Bentley OpenRoads a plus.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of WisDOT design standards, state highway specifications, and federal roadway guidelines.
