As an Entry-Level Roadway Engineer , you'll join a collaborative team delivering impactful roadway and highway projects for WisDOT and local agencies throughout Wisconsin. In this role, you'll support the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects across Wisconsin, contributing to roadway projects from concept development through final design. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll apply roadway design principles, prepare plans and technical deliverables, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and gain exposure to client interactions while helping deliver safe, innovative, and high-quality transportation solutions for Wisconsin communities. The final candidate will ideally be located in Madison but other work locations may be acceptable including Milwaukee or Appleton, WI. What you'll do Support the design and delivery of roadway and highway improvement projects for WisDOT, including urban and rural corridors, freeway and interchange improvements, reconstruction projects, intersection improvements, and multimodal transportation facilities Prepare the development of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E), design calculations, technical reports, quantities, and cost estimates Utilize Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop roadway geometry, corridor models, alignments, profiles, and construction plans Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic, drainage, structures, environmental, utilities, and construction professionals Collaborate with WisDOT staff, municipalities, and other project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle Perform and oversee quality reviews to ensure compliance with WisDOT standards, the Facilities Development Manual (FDM), and applicable federal guidelines Provide engineering support during construction, including design clarifications, field reviews, and resolution of project challenges Here's what you'll need Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, experience with MicroStation platforms is a plus Knowledge of roadway geometrics, corridor modeling, intersection design, plan production, quantities, and PS&E development Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer-In-Training Certification (EIT) Experience delivering WisDOT transportation projects and working with Wisconsin design standards and specifications

Minimum 58,686.00
Posted Salary Range:

And certain roles may be eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock. The base salary range for this position is $58,686.00 to $80,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
