Full-Time About Alpha Metalcraft Group (AMG) Alpha Metalcraft Group (AMG) is a leading precision manufacturing organization serving the Aerospace, Defense, Medical, and Industrial markets. Our Danbury facility is the premier AS9100-certified electroforming supplier, manufacturing highly engineered components used in mission-critical aerospace and defense applications, including rotorcraft blade leading-edge abrasion strips, turbine engine erosion protection components, and missile and rocket heat shield electroforms. AMG is committed to delivering exceptional quality, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement throughout our operations. We are seeking a Quality Engineer who will play a key role in ensuring our products, processes, and systems consistently meet customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. Position Summary The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving the effectiveness of AMG's Quality Management System while ensuring products and manufacturing processes meet stringent aerospace, defense, and customer requirements. This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, Suppliers, and Customers to drive quality improvements, support audits, investigate nonconformances, and maintain compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on quality professional who enjoys working directly with manufacturing teams, solving technical problems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Participate in contract reviews to interpret engineering drawings, customer-specific quality requirements, process specifications, and compliance obligations. Develop and maintain quality standards, inspection methods, procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation. Generate, review, and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in compliance with AS9102 requirements. Serve as a technical quality resource during customer visits, source inspections, and external quality audits. Maintain manufacturing processes and operations in a continuous state of AS9100 and customer compliance. Conduct and support internal audits, process audits, and job-sequence audits to verify compliance and effectiveness of the Quality Management System. Lead investigations into customer complaints, internal nonconformances, process failures, and quality escapes. Facilitate root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPA/RCCA) to eliminate recurring issues. Support destructive and non-destructive testing activities and validation requirements. Analyze quality data and performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Support supplier quality initiatives, supplier qualification efforts, and corrective action activities. Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to improve process capability, product quality, and operational efficiency. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, defect prevention, and customer satisfaction. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience will also be considered. Minimum of 1 year of Quality Engineering experience within an
AS9100, ISO
9001, aerospace, defense, medical device, or similar regulated manufacturing environment. Experience supporting manufacturing quality systems and production operations. Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and corrective/preventive action processes. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and customer-facing communication. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and functions. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting aerospace and defense manufacturing operations. Working knowledge of
AS9100, AS9102, AMS
specifications, ASTM standards, and Nadcap requirements. Experience with supplier qualification, supplier audits, and supplier quality management. Knowledge of calibration systems, measurement equipment, and inspection methodologies. Experience supporting facility start-ups, process implementation, or manufacturing expansion projects. Familiarity with destructive and non-destructive testing methods. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or related quality certification. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
