Job Description

Company Overview Habco Industries is a key provider of tools, ground, and test support equipment that has served the Aerospace Industry for over 50 years; both fixed and rotary winged aircraft and across commercial and military applications. Habco is a fast paced (high mix & low volume) production environment with 3,000 - 5,000 items shipping annually across multiple value streams - each with its own make / buy decision. We're seeking an experienced Quality Engineer who has worked directly in an aerospace manufacturing environment and had responsibility for providing the technical leadership required to ensure that product quality conforms to established company, international, governmental, agency and customer requirements. Position Expectations Lead and maintain Quality Plans (to include Inspection Plans/ Techniques, Statistical Process Control Plans, Process Mapping, PFMEA, FAI, Control Plan, MSA, etc.) for your products and processes. Create and maintain inspection procedures and plans that align with customer requirements and program specific quality plans. Utilize necessary fixtures, gauges, indicators, equipment and related software to check parts for compliance with specifications, within prescribed tolerances for machined parts and other manufactured components. Complete inspection procedures including checking dimensions of related surfaces and holes, including the assessment of finishes as well as the detection of any undesirable non-conformances and the recommendation for disposition of items that don't meet required standards. Perform dimensional checks of parts while in the machine when necessary and rejects unacceptable items, documents nonconformance, and moves the part to the quality clinic. Make recommendations that improve products and processes quality, throughput and/or costs. Perform initial MRB reviews and document nonconformance concession submittals to customer Work with Manufacturing Engineers, Team Leaders, and Value Stream Managers to implement effective corrective actions addressing process deficiencies Use experience related to machining processes (multi-axis machines, grinders, CNC type of lathes and milling machines, and bagging equipment) combined with quality & B\P requirements to make recommendations to improve processes Provide technical expertise to company employees, suppliers, customers and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements. Work pro-actively to prevent non-conformances and reduce product variation through standard measurement plans, implementation of advanced gaging and sampling methodology Responsible for the review and acceptance of all traveler documents to confirm that all sign-offs and revisions follow current operating procedures in addition to verifying that internal operation sheets align with customer blueprints. Lead problem solving activities and events and ensure that issues affecting product quality have effective, data-based, problem resolution plans to include, containment, root cause, corrective , and preventive actions, as well as statistical validation of corrective action effectiveness to minimize both product quality and delivery impact. Actively participate in all stages of
APQP / PPAP
activities, including PFMEA, MSA, Capability studies, FAIs Work with Engineering to develop inspection plans and methods Involved in scheduling & preparing AS9102 FAIR's and Source Inspection requirements. Actively involved in the NCR and DMR process and facilitates MRB activities as required. Enter data into the ERP system to ensure ongoing data integrity. Other duties as may be required. Position Requirements 7+ years recent inspection experience including standard inspection and data forms; 5+ years in an Aerospace environment Advanced understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances as well as advanced ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings, specifications, and customer documents, including BOMs, wiring lists, Op Sheets, Engine Manuals & Customer Purchase Order Requirements Quality oriented with a hands-on capability and a "do it right the first time" personality to include experience with mics, calipers, height gages, gage blocks & pins, VOM meter gauges, indicators, comparators and other standard electrical and mechanical measuring equipment, including
CMM / PCDMIS
Strong attention to detail, organizational, time management and follow-up skills with a high degree of initiative and be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision Ability to handle the walking, lifting, bending, stair climbing, and stooping required to perform the job Team oriented, possessing the ability to work cohesively with others to accomplish assigned responsibilities Effectively communicate and interact with all levels of management and willingness to work directly with production floor staff Familiarity with Root Cause Corrective Action tools and meticulous with high attention to detail, follow through and organizational skills Must have visual acuity enough to be able to read machine dials, gages, Op sheets, and precision measuring equipment Strong computer proficiency; Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook and ERP Preferred Skills Knowledge of
AS 9100, ISO17025 & ASQR-01
Knowledge of American Welding Society (AWS)
D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6
Knowledge of Supply Chain Management
CMM - PCDMIS
