Job Title:
Quality Assurance Engineer Job Description Support the development and testing of flight hardware by witnessing tests and inspecting hardware qualification testing. Contribute to the setup and design of hardware qualification tests to ensure they meet system requirements. Engage in both formal and informal technical reviews, perform source acceptance inspections, and review and approve subcontractor plans, procedures, and design documents. You will also participate in Material Review Boards, elicit root causes and corrective actions when needed, and provide various other quality assurance support tasks as assigned. Responsibilities Witness and inspect flight hardware qualification testing. Design and set up hardware qualification tests to ensure compliance with system requirements. Participate in technical reviews and source acceptance inspections. Review and approve subcontractor plans, procedures, and design documents. Participate in Material Review Boards and elicit root causes and corrective actions. Provide additional quality assurance support tasks as necessary. Essential Skills Experience in mission assurance and quality assurance for high reliability spaceflight hardware. Experience supporting and overseeing testing and test monitoring for hardware qualification. Proficiency in heavy documentation environments, including creating and executing tests. Knowledge of NASA or NRL spaceflight hardware development or similar applications. Demonstrated skills in applying
Y14.5, ISO 9001-1994, ISO
9000-2000, AS9100, FEMA's, Risk Management, and statistical process techniques. Familiarity with DoD or NASA standards for reliability, quality assurance, and system safety. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong knowledge of electromechanical systems, soldered assemblies, cable, crimp, and harness assemblies. Understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing, measurement systems, metrology, ESD controls, non-conforming material control, identification and traceability, storage and handling, inspection systems, and aerospace product fabrication. Experience managing suppliers, including determining requirements, creating and reviewing Quality Assurance plans and procedures, and conducting on-site process and product inspections. Participation in Material Review Boards and conducting document and data reviews prior to shipment. Experience with electromechanical systems, as well as electrical and mechanical systems. Work Environment The position is located onsite at NRL, supporting the
SSIEP III
program. You will need to be present at the facility daily to oversee hardware testing and validation activities. This is a long-term subcontract position. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Washington, DC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
