Process Quality Engineer Reports to:
PQE Supervisor Job Summary:
The Process Quality Engineer (PQE) is responsible for driving quality performance across manufacturing processes and finished products. This role focuses on defect analysis, process control, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to improve yield, reduce cost, and enhance product quality.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for quality issues, including production abnormalities and customer complaints (e.g., 8D, 5-Why). Drive key quality performance indicators, including production yield, OBA
DPPM, CTM
performance, and other metrics assigned by the supervisor. Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency. Analyze defect trends and process variation using statistical tools (SPC, MSA) and implement effective control plans. Ensure implementation and compliance with quality standards and procedures; monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Support and manage quality-related systems and projects (e.g., GQMS, QMS). Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Warehouse, SQE, etc.) to resolve quality issues and improve processes. Develop and optimize inspection methods, testing procedures, and quality control plans. Participate in internal and external audits (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and support audit readiness. Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to monitor process quality and drive real-time improvements.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience. Proficient in data analysis and statistical tools (SPC, MSA preferred). Excellent communication skills; bilingual in English and Mandarin preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred). Minimum 1+ year of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering preferred. Experience with SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and QMS systems is a plus. Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and auditing processes is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Willingness to travel within the United States to support projects, manufacturing sites, warehouses, and third-party contract manufacturers as required. Conduct on-site quality audits at third-party contract manufacturers or partners (e.g., process audits, product audits) and drive corrective actions to closure.
