Commissioning Engineer Level III Job Description The Commissioning Engineer Level III supports projects during the Commissioning Execution Stage and serves as a key contributor and focal point for all commissioning-related matters. This role works under the guidance of the Commissioning Services Manager to plan, coordinate, and document commissioning activities, support technical field advisors, and help develop and refine standard operating procedures for power generation projects involving rotating equipment. Responsibilities Support all projects during the Commissioning Execution Stage under the guidance of the Commissioning Services Manager. Review project contracts and documentation to provide accurate and timely support to site commissioning teams. Plan, forecast, and schedule personnel and resources based on weekly project progress and evolving site needs. Assist Commissioning Technical Field Advisors with commissioning planning, execution, and troubleshooting activities. Support the development, refinement, and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures for commissioning activities. Interpret project drawings, P&IDs, process diagrams, and function diagrams for engineered systems to support commissioning and startup. Refine and optimize field procedures for commissioning and startup activities in collaboration with the Project Support Management team. Ensure commissioning documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date, and maintain internal commissioning check sheets. Promote effective teamwork and collaboration across construction and commissioning teams. Support and adhere to safety requirements and encourage a strong safety culture during all commissioning activities. Support the development of procedures and maintain documentation standards in alignment with company and project requirements. Participate in company training programs to maintain and enhance technical and procedural knowledge. Work effectively in a global environment to help maintain up-to-date standards and best practices for commissioning. Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally as needed to support project commissioning activities. Maintain a valid driver's license and passport to enable travel to domestic and international project sites. Essential Skills 5+ years of construction or commissioning experience with rotating equipment, preferably in power generation environments. Experience with rotating equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and associated power plant systems. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical diploma with 5+ years of experience in power generation construction or commissioning, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Understanding of mechanical commissioning, testing, flushing, startup, and combined cycle thermodynamic principles. Ability to read and interpret project drawings, P&IDs, process diagrams, and function diagrams for engineered systems. Ability to interpret technical procedures and write clear reports, procedures, and business communications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical instructions and data. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, email, and related engineering tools. Ability to meet physical job requirements, including climbing ladders, lifting 25-50 pounds, and working in loud environments, at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather. Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally and maintain a valid driver's license and passport. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred. Technical diploma in a relevant field combined with significant experience in power generation construction or commissioning is acceptable. Experience with power plants and power generation projects, including gas turbine and steam turbine systems. Familiarity with commissioning check sheets and documentation control practices. Ability to work effectively in a global environment and adapt to diverse standards and practices. Multilingual skills are beneficial for working with international teams and documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with construction, commissioning, and project support teams. Work Environment This role is primarily office-based, with up to 20% domestic and international travel to project and plant sites. Site visits may involve working around power generation equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and other rotating machinery. The work environment at project sites can be loud and may require working at heights, in confined spaces, and in a range of weather conditions. The position requires the physical ability to climb ladders and lift 25-50 pounds. You will collaborate closely with global engineering, construction, and commissioning teams, using tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, email, and related engineering applications to manage documentation, plans, and reports.
