8-12 Years Compensation /
Pay Scale:
As per market Standards
ROLE PURPOSE
Establish and lead the Quality Management System (QMS) for
SASMOS NA
Inc.'s new US manufacturing facility for Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS), aerospace wiring harnesses and defense-related electrical interconnect products. Drive quality system implementation, applicable certifications, process qualification, operator competency, New Product Introduction (NPI), project transfers and customer approvals to ensure production readiness and sustained compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A. QMS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Build the site QMS from the ground up: quality policies, manuals, procedures, work instructions, document control, traceability, configuration management, internal audits, management reviews and CAPA. Lead AS9100D implementation and certification readiness, including gap assessment, certification planning, audit coordination and closure of findings. Establish a compliance roadmap covering applicable
ISO 9001, IPC/WHMA-A-620
workmanship requirements, AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI), customer-specific standards and contractual requirements. Assess applicability of additional aerospace/defence requirements, including NADCAP special-process accreditation, DFARS clauses and other relevant customer or government requirements. Maintain effective non-conformance management, risk assessment, root cause analysis, counterfeit parts prevention and continuous improvement.
B. MANUFACTURING QUALITY AND PROCESS QUALIFICATION
Establish quality and inspection systems for wire cutting/stripping, crimping, soldering where applicable, connector and harness assembly, continuity testing and electrical inspection. Develop inspection plans, control plans and acceptance criteria; qualify applicable processes, tooling, test equipment and inspection methods before production release. Control calibration, material certification, product identification, configuration conformity and end-to-end traceability. Drive defect prevention, first-pass yield improvement, scrap/rework reduction and timely resolution of customer complaints and quality escapes.
C. NPI AND PROJECT TRANSFERS
Lead the quality workstream for NPI, industrialization, program launches and transfer of EWIS products/processes from SASMOS India or other group facilities to the US plant. Coordinate with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain and the sending facility to ensure readiness of product documentation, BOMs, tooling, equipment, test programs, process controls and inspection systems. Conduct transfer gap assessments and risk reviews; establish PFMEA, control plans, quality plans and process qualification requirements, as applicable. Coordinate pilot builds, process validation, FAI, customer approvals and closure of critical readiness gaps before production release. Ensure configuration control and engineering-change approvals; establish stage-gate reviews and formal quality sign-off for transfer readiness, ramp-up and handover to serial manufacturing.
D. OPERATOR TRAINING AND QUALIFICATION
Develop a competency framework, role-wise matrices, training plans, practical assessments and qualification/requalification criteria for operators, inspectors, technicians and team leaders. Ensure training in applicable
IPC/WHMA-A-620
requirements, crimping, wire preparation, harness assembly, inspection, electrical testing, ESD/FOD controls and quality documentation. Maintain auditable training records and authorization matrices so personnel are qualified before independently performing controlled operations.
E. SUPPLIER AND CUSTOMER QUALITY
Establish supplier qualification, incoming inspection, supplier audits and supplier corrective-action processes; control material traceability, certificates of conformity, approved sources and counterfeit/suspect parts. Serve as the site quality interface for customers, certification bodies and auditors; coordinate customer audits, product inspections, FAI submissions, concessions and corrective-action responses. Close audit findings and customer complaints on time, verifying corrective-action effectiveness.
KEY DELIVERABLES
Functional site QMS and AS9100D certification roadmap. Applicable certification, customer approval and qualification milestones achieved. Qualified manufacturing processes, inspection systems and authorized operators. Documented NPI/project-transfer readiness, FAI acceptance and production-release sign-off. Effective supplier quality, traceability, CAPA, calibration, internal audit and quality-performance dashboard.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or a related technical discipline. 8-12 years of relevant Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering or Quality Systems experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, aviation, EWIS or electrical interconnect manufacturing. Hands-on AS9100D implementation and certification-audit readiness experience; mandatory experience in aerospace NPI, industrialization or cross-site project transfers, preferably in a greenfield facility. Strong working knowledge of EWIS manufacturing, IPC/WHMA-A-620, AS9102 FAI, process qualification, traceability and corrective-action systems. Experience developing operator training/qualification programs; US aerospace and defense customer exposure strongly preferred.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Ownership and ability to build systems from scratch; technical problem-solving, root cause analysis, risk assessment and audit management; effective communication with customers, auditors, operators and cross-functional teams; strong training and stakeholder-management skills; high attention to detail and commitment to product conformity.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
(KPIs) QMS implementation and certification milestones; on-time customer approvals and NPI/project-transfer quality milestones; first-time-right FAI acceptance and production readiness; operator qualification before authorization; audit findings and CAPA closure; first-pass yield, scrap/rework, supplier rejection and customer escapes; calibration, traceability and documentation compliance.
Role expectation:
Build a robust quality function for the new US plant, qualify the workforce and manufacturing processes, ensure aerospace and defense product conformity, and establish sustainable systems for program launches, project transfers and future growth
