About the Role The Principal Reliability Professional is responsible for leading reliability engineering initiatives that improve product performance, operational reliability, and lifecycle management across Sperry Drilling technologies and equipment. This role applies advanced reliability engineering principles to support product development, risk management, testing strategies, maintenance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, and field teams to identify reliability risks, analyze performance trends, and implement solutions that improve system reliability and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead reliability engineering initiatives supporting downhole tools, drilling technologies, and operational equipment.
  • Develop and implement reliability models, test plans, specifications, and validation strategies for products and systems.
  • Support design risk management activities, including FMEA/FMECA, reliability assessments, and failure investigations.
  • Analyze operational and performance data to identify reliability trends and recommend corrective actions or design improvements.
  • Develop methodologies for reliability analysis, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for field and operational reliability issues.
  • Develop and support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs and implementation plans.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to improve product reliability and service quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, lifecycle optimization, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and deliver reliability training programs, technical guidance, and best practices across the organization.
  • Contribute to reliability standards, processes, and engineering governance activities. Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in reliability engineering, product performance, maintenance engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles, risk analysis, and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with reliability modeling, testing, maintenance strategies, or lifecycle analysis.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams. Preferred
  • Experience supporting oil & gas, drilling tools, downhole equipment, or industrial systems.
  • Familiarity with reliability tools and methodologies such as FMEA/FMECA, Weibull analysis, RCM, or fault tree analysis.
  • Experience with field failure investigations and operational data analysis.
  • Knowledge of reliability-focused maintenance and asset management practices.
  • Professional certifications related to reliability engineering or maintenance engineering are a plus.
Candidates who possess qualifications exceeding the minimum job requirements may be considered for higher-level positions based on experience, additional qualifications, and current business needs.
