We are looking for an experienced Launch Quality Engineer, headquartered out of our Grand Rapids, MI location. This exciting position works directly with our customers on new business acquisitions as well as management of current business activities. Ridgeview Industries is a leading metal stamping, welding and assembly manufacturing company primarily serving the automotive market. Our privately held, employee owned company, founded upon Christian principles, currently employs approximately 600 team members across 4 plant locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance of APQP documentation and support of the corrective action process are primary tasks. This includes preparation and submission of customer required documentation and construction of problem-solving responses Leads/Drives corrective and preventive actions, and effectiveness verification activities for product quality issues Applies knowledge of metrology and GD&T to develop inspection and test methods for a wide array of products and processes Develops control plans and sampling plans for the purposes of process control or validation for attribute, and variable data, for lot based and sequential sampling methods, based upon process data and understanding of manufacturing processes Understands APQP and PPAP processes and can apply related tools to complete or lead teams in product launch activities Understands and applies statistical concepts including but not limited to: Utilization of hypothesis testing, capability analysis, and other methods based on use of normal and non-normal data distributions where appropriate Develops/Uses Key Process Indicators and statistical methods to determine process effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, best practices, and lead teams in driving continuous quality improvement. Lead the dimensional planning process (including gages) and approve layouts prior to capability runs. Review and approve completed Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation prior to customer submission and assure proper records and data per Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) and customer requirements. Ensure 100% conformance for dimensional, material, testing, and capability. Participate in prove out and capability runs to verify that new projects meet part design and quality requirements through review of capability run results. Develop and maintain good customer relations for launch issues (not commercial items); be the customer expert and enforce system and product requirements. Provide all necessary documentation to customers per their requests and/or requirements. Organize and attend program meetings/conference calls with customers and suppliers as required. Lead the Advanced Product Quality Process (APQP), communicating key internal and external customer quality requirements. Ensure launch due dates for critical path items in operations are met. Provide technical input through launch and production processes; Generate Gage Instructions, setup Inspection templates and ensure Gage R&R are complete and meet customer requirements.
