Quality Engineer Confidential Grand Rapids, MI Job Details Full-time $75,000 - $85,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Customer complaint resolution Full Job Description Purpose of the Job The Quality Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining quality systems and engineering activities that ensure products and manufacturing processes meet customer, regulatory, and Company requirements. Duties and Responsibilities Manage all quality activities throughout the product lifecycle from project launch through production. Serve as the primary customer contact for quality-related issues, including customer complaints, corrective actions, and follow-up activities. Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including PPAP submissions, process capability studies, MSA, control plans, FMEAs, print reviews, special characteristics, and quality documentation. Develop, revise, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and related documentation to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer requirements. Lead internal and external corrective action activities utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D. Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Perform and document internal Quality Management System (QMS) audits and support external customer and certification audits. Analyze quality data to identify trends, implement corrective actions, and improve manufacturing performance. Support production operations by improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reducing scrap, maximizing equipment uptime, and enhancing product quality. Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, statistical analysis, and quality tools. Develop and implement cost-saving and process improvement projects. Coordinate customer visits, supplier audits, production launches, and quality-related meetings. Provide technical support to Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Purchasing, and other departments. Train employees on quality systems, procedures, inspection methods, and customer requirements. Coordinate outside laboratory testing, metrology activities, and gauge studies as required. Maintain departmental records and ensure compliance with Company and customer quality standards. Participate in new product launches and engineering changes to ensure successful implementation. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. Perform other duties as assigned.
