Job Description

Talascend is currently seeking a Quality Engineer with a leading automotive manufacturer located in Saginaw, Michigan . Position Summary The Off-Shift Quality Engineer is responsible for managing daily plant floor quality requests, supporting high-level problem solving, and implementing quick containment actions with effective long-term corrective solutions. This role provides technical guidance on complex quality concerns, supports compliance with global quality requirements and GMS processes, and manages improvement projects requested by plant leadership. The position requires the ability to work independently on an off-shift schedule with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Manage multiple projects with broad scope and high complexity. Develop technical solutions using quality tools such as 7 Diamonds Process, Red X, DFMEA, and other problem-solving methodologies. Lead containment activities and corrective action implementation for quality-related issues. Assist production and skilled trades teams in preventing defect occurrences and recommending process improvements. Review nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper disposition and root cause follow-up. Coordinate engineering change implementation through PECM processes. Support throughput and productivity improvements through TIP (Throughput Improvement Process). Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, process stability, and manufacturing capability. Maintain strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering, Quality, and GSC. Monitor plant execution to ensure compliance with global quality standards and procedures. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience. Minimum of 2 years of relevant quality or manufacturing engineering experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to resolve complex technical issues. Experience utilizing quality and problem-solving tools such as 7 Diamonds, Red X, and DFMEA. Ability to balance technical solutions with business objectives and operational goals. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage ambiguous tasks with minimal supervision. Strong communication and project management skills. Preferred Skills Experience in automotive manufacturing or high-volume production environments. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principles. Familiarity with quality systems, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 2 nd shift 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM We thank all applicants for their interest.
