Summary The Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing and improving quality processes that support new product launches (APQP) and current production operations. Additionally, the QE will manage customer concerns through an established problem-solving process. Additional responsibilities include developing Process Flow Diagrams, PFEMAs, Control Plans, 8Ds, Change Management, Gage Management and PPAPs. Essential Duties Primary Focus on APQP, PPAP, Warranty, Customer Returns, Test Data Analysis, and Assembly Line Continuous Improvement. Development and implementation of Safe Launch practices during launch. Inspection Methods, Acceptance Criteria, and Sampling plans for newly outsourced components. Drive resolution of quality issues through reports, rating systems, supplier corrective action reporting, or other means of effective resolution of quality issues. Identify systemic quality issues and drive corrective and preventative actions. Resolve problems using Root Cause, 8Ds, Six Sigma, and statistical software (preferably Minitab). Recommend and implement changes and enhancements to existing manufacturing procedures at suppliers to improve the quality of products. Experience with Control Plans, PFEMAs, Gage R&R and inspection techniques. Evaluate and improve product prints for manufacturability while applying GD&T and dimensional stack-ups. Evaluate and disposition components determined to be non-conforming, and drive quality to reduce non-conformances. Dimensional verification of inspection results. Train quality techs to effectively execute Corrective Action Requests from the Customers. Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation. Devise sampling procedures and design and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data. Develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility. The incumbent must have complete working knowledge with the advanced quality planning process. The individual must have intimate knowledge of process flow diagrams, design and process FMEA's, control plans, and project management tools. QE to make quarterly visits or more frequent to customer sites to ensure customer satisfaction on quality (hence QE needs to be ready to travel). Keep customer scorecard compliant and green, and report KPI to management. Manage changes and communicate with Production/CFT to ensure proper placard and effective change implemented. Other duties as assigned. Competencies Strong Root Cause Analysis capability. Development of Process Flow Diagrams, PFEMAs and Control Plans, PPAPs. Strong floor presence, comfortable managing sorts, gages and part dispositions. Required Skills/Abilities Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. 3 years of Quality Engineering experience. Microsoft Office/Plex/Minitab. Work Environment Manufacturing plant floor and office. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Personal protective equipment is required in all manufacturing areas including, but not limited to, hearing and eye protection, and slip resistant/steel-toed safety shoes.
