Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer has overall responsibility to ensure new products are launched with adequate controls in place. They will establish product and process controls at appropriate levels of production. After launch of new product, the Quality Engineer becomes the primary point of contact with the customer for quality related production issues encountered at customer facilities. The Quality Engineer executes quality activities related to addressing improvements to current products, facilitates engineering changes, facilitates Team Problem Solving, and communicates with the customer. They are also expected to provide support on production floor activities as we strive to improve the performance of products in relationship to product and process control.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Generate, Review, and Update APQP Core documentation (Control Plan, FMEA, Process Flow Chart, and Work Instructions)
  • Provide customer and on-site support for the launch of new product
  • Provide customer and on-site support for quality issue resolution.
  • Evaluate CMM and Statistical data for conformance to specifications and interface with tooling personnel regarding corrective and improvement actions.
  • Assist VP of Quality to monitor and improve COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) factors such as scrap, sorting, and unnecessary inspection.
  • Support the customer liaison activities with visits to the customer locations and frequent communication with in-plant representation.
  • Overall responsibility for the completion and timely submission of corrective action documentation (8D) in the customer preferred format.
  • Drive the execution and completion of corrective action via the Team Problem Solving process.
  • Monitor and suggest improvement to the Product and Process quality through product and process audits on the shop floor.
  • Assist in other Quality or Production related activities, as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledgeable in Automotive Quality Management Systems (IATF-16949:2016)
  • Internal Auditing Experience
  • Technical Math Skills & Basic Statistics
  • Knowledge and Use of Measurement Tools
  • Strong Computer Skills (Statistical software, MS Office, Outlook)
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of: o Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) o Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA
  • GR&R) o Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) o Statistical concepts (SPC) o Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) o Lean / Continual Improvement Techniques
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
5 years' experience as a Tier 1 Automotive Quality Engineer 7 years' experience in Automotive High School Diploma or
GED LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to write and communicate clearly and effectively in English Proven Customer Communication skills

Must be willing and able to drive and work at all Wico Metal facilities and travel to customer locations. Must have passport and be willing and able to travel internationally.
