This role partners closely with Product Development, Supply Chain, Customer Experience, Warehouse, Operations teams, and external suppliers to ensure products meet quality standards while supporting efficient and effective manufacturing processes. This is a newly established role that offers the opportunity to help shape processes and contribute to the future direction of quality and operational improvement efforts. What You'll Do As an Operations & Quality Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring product quality and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities include:
Establishing and maintaining product quality standards, inspection criteria, and technical documentation Interpreting and validating CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements Supporting new product onboarding activities, including prototype evaluation, design validation, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), sampling, and First Article Inspection Reviews (FAIR) Leading product quality inspections, audits, root cause investigations, and corrective action efforts Collaborating with Customer Experience, Operations, and suppliers to identify and resolve quality concerns Maintaining accurate product specifications, supplier information, engineering records, and ERP item data to support operational integrity and product quality Creating and maintaining engineering documentation, specifications, technical reports, work instructions, and operational procedures Analyzing quality and operational data to identify trends, solve problems, and support continuous improvement initiatives Supporting supplier onboarding, qualification, and performance management activities Participating in cross-functional projects that improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturing performance Why This Role Is Unique International Travel Opportunities Work directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners while supporting Terrybear's global supply chain. This role includes opportunities for domestic and international travel, including visits with overseas suppliers and Terrybear's Asia team. Hands-On Engineering This is not a desk-only engineering position. Success in this role requires a willingness to spend time on the production floor learning our products, processes, and operations firsthand. Visible Business Impact Your work will directly influence product quality, manufacturing efficiency, supplier performance, and customer satisfaction. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered Co-op, internship, or other relevant experience supporting product onboarding, specifications, quality documentation, or manufacturing processes Experience working within a continuous improvement culture Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written communication and documentation skills What Will Help You Succeed Knowledge of manufacturing operations, quality audits, SOPs, process validation, and continuous improvement practices Experience working with CAD software, engineering drawings, and GD&T Experience analyzing and interpreting data using Excel and other reporting or business intelligence tools Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and leadership Ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, and support the adoption of new processes and quality standards Preferred Qualifications Experience working with overseas manufacturing and suppliers Prior international supplier travel experience APICS, Lean, or Six Sigma certification
Schedule:
