Job Description

Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer implements quality assurance for engineering activities and quality control for production and manufacturing support. This role develops and executes comprehensive testing strategies, supports product development and validation, and ensures that designs and manufacturing processes meet customer and regulatory requirements. The position works closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and production teams to identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues through root cause analysis, and continuously improve product quality and reliability. Responsibilities Support engineering and quality teams in all quality assurance and quality control activities. Plan and execute reviews of testing activities for product development and conformance to requirements. Develop detailed test plans for all phases of product testing, from development through validation and production support. Create and maintain test strategies, test cases, and review and interpret test results. Participate in Bill of Design assessments and core quality and engineering processes such as CTS, DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, and CTR. Provide analytics and insights based on tests conducted and historical quality and performance data. Develop, maintain, and enhance technical documents, templates, and quality-related documentation. Create and manage test development schedules and test execution schedules to support project timelines. Investigate test failures through detailed data analysis and assess risk of failure in the field. Support warranty claims by providing internal quality and testing information and analysis. Identify and assess potential risks in design and manufacturing that could impact customer quality and satisfaction. Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and production teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes. Perform capability studies and gage R&R studies to evaluate and improve measurement systems and process capability. Apply root cause analysis methodologies and prepare quality documents, reports, and corrective action plans. Provide quality assurance support during product development and R D, and quality control support during manufacturing and production. Apply knowledge of PPAP, APQP, and other quality validation processes to ensure robust product launches and process controls. Review customer Statements of Requirements (SOR) and technical specifications, and support their implementation into design and manufacturing processes. Coordinate engineering and pre-production builds to ensure quality requirements are understood, implemented, and verified. Prepare and review test reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and traceability to requirements and test plans. Essential Skills At least 5+ years of experience in quality assurance and quality control, validation, testing, and product development. Demonstrated experience developing and executing detailed test plans, test strategies, and test cases. Strong background in quality engineering, quality assurance, and root cause analysis. Hands-on experience with capability studies and gage R&R. Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, and other quality validation and launch processes. Ability to investigate test failures using data analysis and assess risk of failure in the field. Experience preparing and maintaining technical documents, quality documents, and templates. Ability to review and implement customer requirements, technical specifications, and SOR documents. Proficiency in developing and managing test schedules and coordinating testing activities. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics. Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide clear test analytics and historical data insights. Effective collaboration skills for working with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and production teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications BS or equivalent engineering degree, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree. Experience with electronics and electronic components in a testing or manufacturing environment. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Experience with pneumatics and related systems. Experience with optical testing and use of optical equipment. Experience with climate testing and environmental test methods. Familiarity with automotive regulations and standards. Experience preparing and interpreting test reports. background in manufacturing processes and production environments. Experience with cycle testing and durability testing. Ability to work with 3D printers, gauges, and various test tools and equipment. Experience supporting warranty claims from a quality and test perspective. Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to documentation and validation activities. Work Environment The role operates in a professional engineering and manufacturing environment that combines office and lab or shop settings. You will regularly use computers and standard office equipment to develop documentation, analyze data, and manage schedules. The position also involves hands-on work with 3D printers, test equipment, gauges, optical equipment, electronic devices, and a variety of tools to support testing and validation activities. Normal working hours are from 7:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, supporting a full-time daytime schedule aligned with engineering, quality, and production operations. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Snow Hill, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
