About the
Role:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Reliability Engineer to lead initiatives that improve equipment performance, minimize downtime, and maximize asset reliability across our manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will bring 5-10 years of reliability engineering experience within industrial manufacturing environments, preferably in the food and beverage, chemical, or related process industries. This role will identify and eliminate the root causes of equipment failures, develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and support continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational excellence. This position plays a critical role in supporting Kerry's commitment to safety, quality, efficiency, and sustainable manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Root Cause Analysis & Failure Elimination:
Lead investigations into equipment and process failures using Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and related methodologies. Develop and implement sustainable corrective actions to eliminate recurring failures. Analyze equipment history and failure data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Support production and maintenance teams in solving complex reliability challenges.
Preventive Maintenance Strategy Development:
Design, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs based on equipment criticality and failure history. Prioritize maintenance activities according to operational risk and business impact. Optimize maintenance schedules to improve equipment availability and extend asset life. Audit and refine preventive maintenance tasks and frequencies to ensure effectiveness and value.
Predictive Maintenance Program Leadership:
Implement and manage predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasonic testing. Analyze condition-monitoring results to identify early indicators of equipment deterioration. Proactively schedule maintenance interventions to prevent failures and reduce production disruptions. Drive adoption of predictive maintenance best practices throughout the facility.
Equipment Reliability & Performance Improvement:
Monitor reliability of KPIs, including mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), equipment availability, and downtime trends. Use statistical analysis and reliability metrics to identify improvement opportunities. Develop and execute reliability improvement plans that enhance productivity and reduce maintenance costs. Support asset criticality assessments and lifecycle asset management initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve equipment performance and reliability. Support capital projects, equipment installations, commissioning activities, and startup reliability strategies. Serve as a subject matter expert for maintenance and reliability best practices. Promote a culture of proactive maintenance and operational excellence across the site.
Training & Mentorship:
Train and mentor maintenance technicians and operations personnel on reliability principles and troubleshooting methodologies. Provide coaching on preventive and predictive maintenance practices. Support capability-building initiatives that strengthen maintenance and reliability competencies throughout the organization.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, investigations, and reliability initiatives. Develop reports and presentations highlighting equipment performance, reliability metrics, cost savings, and improvement opportunities. Communicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. 5-10 years of reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or asset management experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience within food and beverage, chemical processing, pharmaceutical, or related industries. Strong understanding of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies. Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM). Demonstrated success in reducing equipment downtime and improving asset performance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to diverse audiences. Proven ability to collaborate across functions and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Preferred Qualifications CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) certification. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience. Hands-on experience implementing predictive maintenance technologies. Knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, and regulated manufacturing environments. The typical hiring range for this role is $70,100 (minimum) to $109,050 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, locations, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay:
$70,100.00 - $109,050.00 per year
