Job Description

What to Expect We are seeking a multi-faceted Quality Engineer to take ownership of all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting plastic components. You will work with other Engineering teams to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures for field issues, improving the quality, reliability, and durability of Tesla products. What You'll Do Responsible for stamping press and injection molding components quality Development of manufacturing requirements, quality standards and product quality plans to assure products will meet expectations of our target customers Deployment of manufacturing level requirements to subsystems, assemblies & components to assure clear focus on design and customer needs Identification of critical requirements to assure proper supplier and production focus on critical needs Leading development of FMEAs (Design & Process) for development teams to identify and address critical risks Perform failure analysis using engineering and manufacturing expertise; conduct root cause analysis (5-Whys, Fishbone, Fault Tree) and implement corrective actions, diagnostics, and repairs Collaborate with engineering, service, diagnostics, and quality teams to communicate insights, refine procedures, and drive scalable solutions; support documentation, remote tools, and design reviews (DFMEAs, PFMEAs) Lead continuous improvements, preventive actions, and process optimizations; participate in NPI, DOE, statistical analysis, audits, training, and incident response What You'll Bring Degree in Software, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience Hands-on failure analysis experience (consumer electronics, semiconductors, EVs, automotive preferred); entry-level with co-ops/internships (e.g., Formula SAE) considered Proficiency in software/firmware tools, logs, plastics troubleshooting, and manufacturing processes Knowledge of failure analysis tools, statistical software (Python, Minitab, JMP), quality standards (ASME, ISO 9001), DOE, and inspections Data management and interpretation using business systems Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration Proactive, ownership-driven mindset focused on quality, safety, integrity, and adaptability Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
