Join trak group in partnering with a growing client seeking a Quality Engineer to support automotive quality, new product launches, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position serves as a key quality contact between customers, suppliers, and manufacturing operations, ensuring mass-production components meet customer requirements and quality expectations. The Quality Engineer will support prototype, pre-production, and production programs, lead customer quality activities, analyze product concerns, coordinate corrective actions, and drive improvements across multiple manufacturing locations. This role requires strong Tier 1 automotive quality experience, customer-facing communication skills, and the flexibility to travel frequently to customer and supplier locations.
Responsibilities Serve as the primary quality contact for assigned automotive customer programs. Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal manufacturing teams. Support prototype reviews, new model evaluations, pre-production trials, and product launches. Attend customer and supplier build events to evaluate product and program readiness. Provide technical support to customer Quality Engineering and Production Engineering teams. Lead investigation and resolution of customer quality concerns. Analyze nonconforming products and coordinate containment, corrective action, and improvement activities. Serve as the primary coordinator for customer-site "Go & See" activities. Coordinate quality improvement initiatives across North American manufacturing facilities. Develop and conduct supplier readiness and quality audits. Track program development, quality issues, engineering changes, and corrective actions. Maintain customer-required quality websites, portals, databases, and reporting systems. Monitor customer quality performance, including PPM, scrap, defects, sorting, and rework. Support negotiations involving rejected parts, PPM records, scrap costs, and quality-related expenses. Develop spreadsheets, databases, timelines, and tracking tools for program and quality performance. Use the PDCA methodology to develop, execute, monitor, and adjust quality improvement plans. Prepare quality status reports and communicate program performance to senior management. Coordinate with global and affiliate manufacturing locations. Travel to customer, supplier, and manufacturing locations as required. Must-Haves 5+ years of professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Corporate-level Tier 1 automotive supplier experience required. Experience working directly with automotive OEM customers. Quality experience in mass production, new model/advanced quality, or warranty. Experience supporting prototype, pre-production, launch, and/or mass-production quality activities. Strong experience investigating customer quality concerns and driving corrective actions. Knowledge of automotive quality methodologies and systems such as APQP, 5-Why, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis. Experience managing large amounts of quality and program data across multiple locations. Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple programs, priorities, and customer deadlines. Strong Microsoft Office skills with the ability to develop detailed reports, timelines, databases, and tracking tools. Ability to travel more than 50% depending on program and customer needs. Preferred Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 3+ years of automotive OEM quality experience. Brake systems or other safety-critical automotive product experience. Experience with Toyota quality systems including EQPR, SQIDS, SWCS, SKIP, and SPIMS. Experience with GM, Ford, or Chrysler/Stellantis customer quality systems and portals. Knowledge of
IATF/TS 16949, ISO
9000, Shainin RedX, Six Sigma, Taguchi, and Kepner-Tregoe methodologies. Six Sigma Green Belt.
