Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Reliability Supervisor will provide engineering support and technical expertise for the site rotating equipment reliability program. The incumbent will evaluate equipment reliability using engineering methods, failure history, asset criticality, predictive maintenance data, and field observations. This position will help improve the plant's PM program, equipment strategies, work instructions, repair practices, equipment data quality, and work management system.

The incumbent will support projects and modifications that improve rotating equipment reliability, availability, efficiency, safety, environmental compliance, and maintenance cost performance. They will work with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, Safety, Environmental, Purchasing, outside consultants, repair shops, and vendors. The incumbent will provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians, planners, and field personnel.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required

Vibration analysis, lubrication, or machinery reliability certification preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

6+ years' engineering, maintenance, or reliability experience required

Rotating equipment reliability experience desired

Knowledge of pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, gearboxes, drivers, mechanical seals, lubrication systems, and auxiliary systems

Knowledge of rotating equipment repair, installation, alignment, startup, and troubleshooting practices

Experience with failure analysis, RCFA, bad actor elimination, and corrective action development

Experience with PM optimization, equipment strategies, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring preferred

Experience with capital and operating cost estimating and economic analysis preferred

Specific experience with API, ASME, Hydraulic Institute, ISO, and other applicable rotating equipment standards preferred

Experience with PI System, PI Vision, Mobile Operator, or reliability dashboards preferred

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Oversee the site predictive maintenance program for rotating equipment, including vibration monitoring, lubrication analysis, operator rounds, wireless monitoring, and other condition-based monitoring activities

Review predictive maintenance findings and coordinate follow-up actions with Maintenance, Operations, Planning, and Reliability

Maintain rotating equipment KPIs and reliability dashboards, including MTBR, repeat failures, major repairs, bad actors, PM compliance, PdM compliance, vibration exceptions, and corrective action closure

Monitor MTBR and other reliability performance indicators to identify declining equipment performance and recurring failure patterns

Review rotating equipment failures and support failure classification, RCFA, corrective action development, and action tracking

Oversee preventive maintenance requirements for rotating equipment, including PM task content, frequency, job plan quality, and alignment with equipment criticality and failure modes

Recommend PM changes based on failure history, predictive maintenance results, asset criticality, repair history, and operating experience

Support the pump reliability program by tracking major repairs, repeat failures, spare utilization, repair quality, and post-repair performance

Identify rotating equipment bad actors and develop reliability improvement recommendations to reduce failures, downtime, and maintenance cost

Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance for troubleshooting, repair decisions, startup concerns, lubrication issues, seal failures, vibration issues, and abnormal equipment performance

Support Maximo data quality improvements, including asset hierarchy, failure codes, PMs, job plans, repair history, BOMs, and equipment attributes

Support PI Vision, Mobile Operator, Maximo, and other reliability tools used to track equipment condition, runtime, PM effectiveness, and spare equipment utilization

Develop equipment strategies for critical rotating equipment based on asset criticality, known failure modes, operating context, and reliability risk

Coordinate reliability improvement activities with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, Safety, Environmental, Purchasing, vendors, repair shops, and contract engineering services

Provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians, planners, and field personnel on rotating equipment reliability practices

Ability to adjust schedules to support critical equipment issues, turnarounds, startups, and business needs

Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
