Job Description

Sr. Quality Engineer Leatherman Tool Group - Portland, Oregon (On-site) At Leatherman , we build tools that help people solve problems in the real world. Now we're looking for a Senior Quality Engineer who is passionate about precision, process improvement, and innovation to help elevate quality across our manufacturing operations and global supply chain. If you enjoy solving complex manufacturing challenges, applying data and advanced analytics to drive improvement, and working with cross-functional teams to build world-class products — this could be the role for you. What You'll Do As a Senior Quality Engineer , you'll play a critical leadership role in shaping product and process quality across Leatherman's operations.
You will:
Lead complex quality problem solving across manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain Apply statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, and advanced analytics to drive improvements Champion AI-enabled quality tools and automation to modernize quality systems Develop metrology strategies and measurement systems to ensure precision and repeatability Improve manufacturing process capability and stability in a high-volume production environment Support New Product Introduction (NPI) including control plans, metrology strategies, and supplier qualification Partner with suppliers to strengthen supplier quality and capability Lead root cause analysis and CAPA initiatives using structured methodologies like DMAIC, A3, and 5 Whys Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce variation, scrap, rework, and quality risk What Makes This Role Unique This is more than a traditional quality engineering role. You'll help shape the future of quality at Leatherman by:
  • Implementing AI-enabled quality tools and automation
  • Leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning to improve manufacturing performance
  • Driving plant-wide quality strategy and capability improvements
  • Mentoring technicians and helping build a strong quality culture What You Bring ✔ Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline ✔ 10+ years of quality engineering experience (or 5+ years with a Master's degree) ✔ Strong expertise in SPC, process capability, and statistical analysis ✔ Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments ✔ Ability to interpret GD&T, engineering drawings, and 3D models ✔ Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills ✔ Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives
Preferred:
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification
  • Experience with CMM, vision systems, and advanced metrology technologies
  • Experience designing custom gauges and inspection fixtures
