Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer investigates product and process quality issues, identifies root causes, and drives effective corrective and preventive actions. This role develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to uncover opportunities for product and process improvement, and leads cross-functional initiatives to implement sustainable changes that enhance operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Investigate product and process quality issues in a manufacturing environment and document findings in a clear and structured manner. Identify root causes of quality problems using formal methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone/Ishikawa Diagrams, and other quality tools. Develop, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address identified root causes and prevent recurrence. Create, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement in product and process quality. Lead cross-functional problem-solving activities with technicians, supervisors, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve quality issues and implement robust solutions. Drive process improvements that enhance operational effectiveness, yield, and overall customer satisfaction. Apply quality engineering tools such as FMEA and SPC to assess risk, monitor process stability, and ensure consistent product performance. Work directly on the production floor to observe processes, collaborate with production teams, and verify the effectiveness of implemented improvements. Document and communicate quality findings, recommendations, and improvement results to relevant stakeholders in a clear and timely manner. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or a closely related engineering discipline. 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience in industries such as semiconductor, medical device, automotive, or aerospace is preferred. Proficiency with quality engineering tools and methods, including 8D, FMEA, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone/Ishikawa Diagrams, and Statistical Process Control (SPC). Demonstrated experience performing root cause analysis and managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Ability to work comfortably and effectively on the production floor alongside technicians, supervisors, and engineers. Strong analytical skills to interpret data, monitor KPIs, and drive data-based decision-making. Effective communication and collaboration skills to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in highly regulated or high-reliability manufacturing sectors such as semiconductor, medical device, automotive, or aerospace. Familiarity with continuous improvement and structured problem-solving methodologies, including Six Sigma. Demonstrated ability to implement sustainable process improvements that enhance quality and operational performance. Work Environment This role operates within a manufacturing environment that requires frequent presence on the production floor to observe processes, collaborate with technicians and supervisors, and validate improvements. The Quality Engineer works closely with cross-functional engineering and operations teams, using quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, 5 Why Analysis, and Fishbone/Ishikawa Diagrams to drive data-driven decisions and continuous improvement. The position involves a balance of hands-on floor engagement and office-based analysis and documentation, in a setting focused on operational excellence and high product quality.
