Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer interprets customer and internal quality requirements and ensures that existing quality systems and processes comply with those standards. This role leads internal and external audits, manages the full supplier quality lifecycle, and drives robust root cause analysis and corrective actions within an aerospace manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Interpret customer and internal quality requirements and translate them into effective quality systems, procedures, and inspection processes. Ensure quality systems and documentation remain compliant with applicable aerospace quality standards, including AS9100. Lead internal and external quality audits, including planning, execution, documentation, and follow-up on findings. Manage the entire supplier quality process, including supplier qualification, auditing, and maintenance of the approved supplier list. Perform detailed root cause analysis for nonconformances and quality issues, using structured problem-solving methodologies. Develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans to address identified issues and prevent recurrence. Oversee Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including evaluation and disposition of nonconforming materials. Create and refine inspection processes to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to specifications. Apply statistical process control techniques to monitor manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Utilize quality engineering tools such as CAPA, PPAP, DMAIC, and 8D to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate closely with the engineering team, production, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns and enhance process capability. Prepare clear, accurate quality reports and documentation to support audits, customer requirements, and internal reviews. Essential Skills Minimum of 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience in aerospace manufacturing. Strong proficiency with AS9100 aerospace quality standards and their application in manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with Material Review Board (MRB) activities and nonconforming material disposition. Proven experience conducting internal audits and supporting external audits, including corrective action follow-up. Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis using structured methodologies. Experience creating and implementing inspection processes for manufactured products. Degreed engineering with practical experience applying scientific methods to quality and process improvement. Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) for monitoring and improving manufacturing processes. Experience with DMAIC, 8D, and CAPA methodologies for problem solving and corrective action management. Ability to develop, implement, and track corrective action plans to successful closure. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with PPAP and other advanced quality planning tools. Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with the ability to interpret quality metrics and process data. Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers. Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and compliance in documentation and reporting. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a small engineering team. Work Environment The role is based in an aerospace manufacturing facility and is part of a small, collaborative engineering team. The Quality Engineer works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and supplier partners in a production-focused environment that relies on precision, adherence to aerospace standards, and continuous improvement. The setting involves typical aerospace manufacturing technologies and equipment, with an emphasis on quality systems, inspections, and process controls Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fullerton, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
