Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer supports a growing quality team as they bring structure and consistency to their Quality Management System (QMS) and transition from manual tools to a more formal eQMS environment. Responsibilities Manage and document customer complaints received from internal customer service teams, ensuring issues are logged, tracked, and resolved in a timely and accurate manner. Drive and support corrective actions (CAPAs), including coordinating investigations, documenting findings, and ensuring proper closure of action items. Maintain and update QMS documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, forms, and training records to ensure they remain current and compliant. Support document control processes by reviewing, routing, and releasing controlled documents, and ensuring version control and distribution accuracy. Work closely with customer service, manufacturing, and engineering teams to investigate and resolve quality issues, providing clear communication and follow-up. Assist in cleaning up, organizing, and standardizing quality documentation as part of ongoing QMS improvement efforts. Support the transition from manual systems (such as Excel and Word) to an electronic QMS (eQMS) platform, including data migration and process alignment. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process standardization projects to enhance overall product and process quality. Spend increasing time on the manufacturing floor to support quality processes, verify implementation of corrective actions, and provide on-the-spot quality systems support as the role ramps up. Apply good documentation practices (GDP) consistently in all quality records and ensure compliance with internal procedures. Support quality control and quality assurance activities as needed to help maintain a robust quality system. Essential Skills Bachelors or Associate's degree with equivalent experience. 1-3 years of experience in a quality role. Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment. Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS), including document control and SOP management. Experience supporting CAPAs and corrective action plans. Ability to support quality activities on the manufacturing floor. Understanding and application of good documentation practices (GDP). Foundational experience in a manufacturing quality environment, including exposure to quality control and quality assurance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with or exposure to electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS). Comfort working with tools such as Excel and Word for documentation and data management. Strong initiative and a willingness to learn and grow within quality systems. Ability to collaborate effectively with customer service, manufacturing, and engineering teams. Interest in being mentored and developed within a growing quality organization. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
