Job Description
Customer Quality Engineer (Nissan) Shelbyville, TN (100% Onsite) Direct Hire Position Overview The company is seeking an experienced Customer Quality Engineer to serve as the primary customer-facing quality representative. This individual will manage customer quality concerns, lead root cause investigations, coordinate corrective actions, and act as the liaison between OEM customers and internal engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. This role requires an independent, self-driven quality professional who can confidently manage customer relationships after initial onboarding while driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing organization. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary customer quality contact for Nissan and other OEM customers. Manage customer complaints, quality concerns, and warranty issues from initial notification through resolution. Lead structured problem-solving activities utilizing 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and other root cause methodologies. Coordinate containment activities and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Analyze quality data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Communicate quality issues across manufacturing, engineering, supplier quality, and leadership teams. Support PPAP submissions, launch activities, customer audits, and quality documentation. Track customer returns, rejects, and quality metrics while driving reductions in defects. Interface with Supplier Quality Engineers regarding non-conforming materials. Travel to customer locations as needed to support quality investigations and issue resolution. Required Qualifications 7-10+ years of automotive quality engineering experience. Experience managing OEM customer quality issues. Strong understanding of automotive quality systems and customer-specific requirements. Proven experience leading root cause investigations and corrective actions. Experience working within Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive suppliers. Strong analytical, communication, and customer management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent practical experience). Preferred Qualifications HVAC assembly manufacturing experience. Injection molding manufacturing experience. Large assembly manufacturing experience. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt. CQE or CQA certification. Experience supporting customer audits and OEM quality requirements. Preferred Industry Background Tier 1 Automotive Suppliers (Highly Preferred) Tier 2 Automotive Suppliers Automotive OEMs (Nissan, Ford, GM)
