Job Description

Project Engineer -
Electrical Locations:
Abilene, TX (6-7 month contract with anticipated 25-30 hours OT/week)
Red Oak, TX Fredericksburg, VA Compensation & Benefits:
Overtime pay at 1.5x base pay Lodging and food expenses reimbursed up to ~$325/day (if not local) One paid flight or drive home per month
Job Summary:
The Senior Project Engineer - Electrical is responsible for planning and performing commissioning of electrical systems, mainly in data center environments. This self-motivated, energetic professional should have strong knowledge of building electrical systems design, construction, and commissioning processes across various system sizes and complexities. Responsibilities include reviewing project information, executing daily field activities, maintaining documentation, supporting project managers, leading small/medium projects, and providing technical guidance.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Commission electrical distribution equipment and controls (data center environments; high/medium voltage systems) Review system designs for client compliance Prepare plans, procedures, and documentation for the commissioning process Conduct commissioning activities from design through occupancy Attend and document factory equipment testing Test and analyze electrical systems, prepare reports and recommendations Perform thermographic surveys and power quality assessments Document all procedures, results, and issues using company systems Coordinate with project managers and teams, participate in meetings Draft test procedures, support scheduling, and maintain commissioning reports Lead and train Associate/Project Engineers Respond professionally and promptly to team/client inquiries Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols Must be knowledgeable with: Generators and paralleling switchgear Transformers (HV/MV/LV) UPS, battery systems Switchgear, main switchboards, PLC controls Automatic/semi-automatic switching/transfer systems (ATS/STS) Power monitoring, control, and distribution equipment Grounding and lighting control systems
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years' mission-critical project experience OR 7+ years commissioning experience with mission-critical projects or relevant industry experience
Skills & Abilities:
Extensive commissioning experience (mission critical/facility preferred) Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, problem-solving mindset Excellent communication and relationship skills (verbal and written) Ability to manage multiple tasks, work with limited supervision, and mentor junior staff Knowledge of ASHRAE/BCxA commissioning guidelines and/or NETA test specs preferred Experience with distributed control, BMS, and/or EPMS systems a plus Proficient in test instrumentation and reporting Strong team player with a client-first mentality
Certifications/Licenses:
PE License and/or commissioning certification preferred (not required)
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Walk up to 5 miles a day; carry up to 50 lbs Wear required PPE daily 50% - 75% nationwide travel (may include periods of greater travel)
