Job Duties/responsibilities:
The Quality Engineer is a key member of the engineering team, responsible for continuously improving product quality. This position provides daily support to manufacturing teams by solving quality issues, monitoring compliance to quality standards, and promoting a quality mindset. The Quality Engineer will work closely with engineering, operations, and suppliers to provide input, recommend solutions, and drive process improvement.
Essential Job Functions:
Assigned to an area or product family. Lead CAPAs assigned to quality for the assigned product, coach and manage other departments' CAPAs related to the assigned product line. Monitor and ensure compliance with the processes for the assigned product line. Monitor and analyze product quality and FTY in assigned areas (daily and trends), alert leadership and engineering to problems. Attends daily tier meetings in assigned area and other related areas as needed. Attend daily quality tier meeting and report KPIs and actions needed to bring red KPIs back to green. Understand key process parameters and implement monitoring and control systems. Work projects based on product quality and FTY performance in assigned area. Ensure containment is implemented when needed for non-quality. Review and sign off planning, work instructions, and shop mods. Manage FAI and CID introductions in assigned areas. Perform product, supplier and internal audits as assigned. Generate and present product quality reviews to management. Support APQP implementation team. Manage quality escapes including containment, corrective action, interaction with customer, and QEM involvement. Interact with suppliers to solve problems when affecting the assigned product line, CAPA system to be used. Interact with customer to drive larger initiatives such as introduction of new sources or investigation of field issues.
Education and Work experience:
BS or MS degree in Engineering from accredited University Hands-on experience with manufacturing of composite parts 5+ years of experience in similar position. Proficient knowledge of GD&T Competent in use of Six Sigma and Statistical Analysis. Competent in lean methodologies Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Experience with quality systems (Nadcap, AS9100) Demonstrated success with multidiscipline project management Competent using software: Office package, MINITAB, Power BI Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
