(WCS) has served the marine, industrial, and offshore industries for more than 70 years as a supplier of anchors, anchor chain, chain fittings, steel wire rope, synthetic rope and rigging hardware. WCS manufactures its Marquip line of products in our Seattle, WA machine shop while also serving as a distributor for partner brands such Crosby, Van Beest, Cortland, Samson, Peerless, and Bethlehem Wire Rope. Position Summary The Quality Engineer supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems and processes. This role involves conducting inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with standards, and contributing to root cause analysis and corrective actions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in quality methodologies. Engineering background is preferred. Key Responsibilities Support the implementation and maintenance of quality program including development and implementation of procedures and standards Perform routine inspections and testing of incoming materials and finished products Assist in supplier quality management, including evaluation and performance monitoring Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes Develop and implement inbound product testing and inspection programs Prepare and maintain product certification documentation and packages Develop test procedures and train personnel on testing methods and equipment Collaborate with engineering team on design validation and product standardization
Qualifications Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control, engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of quality systems, methodologies, and standards Experience with mechanical component design and product testing Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications Excellent communication and documentation skills Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in teams.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand or sit for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; balance; bend and reach with hands and arms; use feet to operate foot pedal operation; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop. This role may require hands-on work in testing environments, collaboration across departments, and flexibility to adapt to evolving responsibilities.
