Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is hiring a Senior Software Design Verification Engineer (Cybersecurity) for one of our Medical Device clients to lead verification and validation (V&V) activities for embedded medical device software, with a strong focus on cybersecurity testing. The role is a mix of hands-on testing (~40%) and strategy/planning (~60%), requiring someone who can thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and pivot quickly. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform software design verification and cybersecurity testing on embedded medical device software.
  • Develop and maintain V&V processes, procedures, test plans, and project schedules (including regression planning).
  • Execute cybersecurity testing activities: penetration testing, malformed input/fuzz testing, SAST, SBOM generation/monitoring, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Build and maintain automated test scripts/tools to streamline embedded software testing.
  • Lead test-related meetings (Test Approach, Test Readiness, Pre-Release Review) and coordinate with cross-functional project teams.
  • Produce clear documentation aligned with Solventum procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and train junior verification engineers and test technicians.

  • STEM Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity Testing preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, Software Quality Engineering, and/or Software Test Methodologies (private, public, government, or military environment).
  • Hands-on cybersecurity testing experience: penetration testing, fuzz/malformed input testing, SAST.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (FDA, medical device, pharma, or healthcare).
  • Embedded cybersecurity exposure.
  • Willingness/ability to work hybrid onsite in San Antonio 2-3 days/week.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
  • Project management experience and ability to collaborate on multi-faceted projects.
  • Ability to thrive in a hypergrowth/startup/entrepreneurial environment ("organized chaos").
  • ISO standards experience (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304).
  • Secure boot, cryptography, PKI, firmware security, and threat modeling experience.
  • Embedded systems experience (IoT, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular).
  • Working knowledge of premarket/postmarket medical device regulations (FDA, EU, etc.).
  • Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Electrical Engineering.
