Job Description
Jacobs is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our growing Huntsville, Alabama Water team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and academic coursework in hydraulics, water and wastewater treatment, and construction engineering/management. The successful candidate will support planning, design, and construction projects that improve water infrastructure and enhance the communities we serve. Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience in water, wastewater, and conveyance system projects while developing technical and professional skills in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and design of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects.
- Perform engineering calculations related to hydraulics modeling, pipelines, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
- Support the preparation of engineering reports, studies, specifications, and construction documents.
- Participate in the development of drawings and design packages
- Conduct data collection, field investigations, and site visits
- Assist with construction administration activities, including reviewing submittals, responding to contractor questions, and conducting field inspections.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, including environmental, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers and architects.
- Support project scheduling, cost estimating, and budget tracking activities.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and company quality standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Relevant water / wastewater coursework or projects
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or research experience related to water, wastewater, municipal infrastructure, or construction projects.
- Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, or similar engineering software.
- Understanding of municipal infrastructure design principles and construction practices.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain in the first year Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
