Job Details:
Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic model development, review modeling performed by staff Exercise judgement in developing details of workflow and adaptations of engineering alternatives Propose modifications to selected engineering approaches when required Develop novel methodologies to model flooding problems unique to specific regions or scenarios Act as an Independent Technical Reviewer for 1D and 2D hydrologic and hydraulic studies to create FEMA flood maps Review 1D studies and coordinate with production staff and project managers to ensure error correction and delivery of models Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models to aid the development of FEMA flood maps and other regulatory and non-regulatory products for FEMA and various state emergency management agencies Contribute to pre-disaster mitigation planning, post-disaster assessments, and recovery planning projects Develop mapping products and visualization aids Conduct field surveys Qualifications Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field of study and 2 years of experience as an Environmental Engineer, Civil Engineer, Wastewater Engineer, or in a related occupation. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field of study and no experience. Experience and skills can be gained in pursuit of a university-level degree via coursework, projects, or internships. Skills may be gained concurrently. Position requires experience in the following: HEC-RAS, including 1D & 2D ArcMap ArcProHEC-HMS EPA-SWMM
