Project Engineer I/II - Land Development/Flood Control*

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Project Engineer I/II - Land Development/Flood Control in the Department of Public Works.

• The department will consider and may hire a candidate who is qualified at either the level I or level II in the Project Engineer series.

The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year. Under general supervision, manages, plans, and executes professional engineering activities related to City projects in compliance with regional and local master plans, codes, and best practices; performs professional level design services requiring state registration and performs related duties as assigned. This recruitment is specific to the Land Development/Flood Control division: Manages designs for flood control structures; inspects, studies, analyzes, and formulates proposals on flood control and drainage problems Assists with the budget and management for funding such as the Regional Flood Control District and Local Improvement Districts (LID) Performs the review of development plans for compliance with both State and City codes

Salary and Benefits:

Competitive Salary Range for Project Engineer I $78,025.16 - $118,971.02 annually and for Project Engineer II $87,650.78 - 133,647.94 annually; salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity

Project Engineer I Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a closely related field Two (2) years of responsible, diversified experience in a civil engineering environment, or an equivalent combination of closely related training and experience

Note:

An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered Must possess a valid registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT)/Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination at the time of application or the ability to obtain such registration within six (6) months of hire Must have the ability to obtain registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Nevada Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483 All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by local, state, and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and at the incumbents' expense

Desirable:

Public works project experience with streets, flood control, traffic, utility systems, and local improvement districts

Project Engineer II Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or closely related field Four (4) years of responsible, diversified experience in a civil engineering environment

An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered Must possess valid registration as a Professional Engineer with the State of Nevada at time of application, or the ability to obtain such registration through reciprocity within six (6) months of hire and as a condition of continued employment Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483 All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by local, state, and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and at the incumbents' expense

Desirable:

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on the dates listed above. All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada, and make themselves available to participate in the testing process at any time on any of the dates listed above. The selection process will entail Subject Matter Experts reading and scoring your responses to supplemental questions 10 - 15 and your answers will be the sole determining factor for placement on the eligibility list for this classification. Subject Matter Experts will NOT have access to any information besides the answers to questions 10 - 15. This means that they will not have access to applications, resumes or any other identifying information when scoring. Candidates who have been placed on the eligibility list will be invited to participate in a selection interview. The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best-qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process.
