Position Overview We currently have an opportunity available for an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Civil/Environmental Team in our Champaign, IL office. The selected candidate will assist with the planning, design, and construction phase services for a wide variety of wastewater, potable water and storm water infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Performs design tasks including computations and analysis for municipal infrastructure including, wastewater treatment plants, sanitary sewers, lift stations and storm water facilities. Applies engineering principals to develop solutions and evaluate performance and life cycle cost of municipal infrastructure improvements. Creates drawings and models following the company's design standards and utilizing the designated CAD or modeling software with limited guidance. Assists with the preparation of reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, supporting documents and permit applications. Assists with construction phase services for water and wastewater treatment facilities and for sanitary sewer, potable water, and storm sewer infrastructure projects. Interprets construction plans and documents for the contractor and client, interface with operators regarding potential interference with operations, Assists with full or preliminary review of shop drawings, submittals, change orders, punch lists and contractor as-builts. Assists with maintaining project documentation, daily reports of construction site activity, project files, RFIs and submittals. Participates in progress meetings and assists in equipment startup and project close-out. Drafts correspondence, reports and communicates effectively with project stakeholders. Requirements B.S. degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, M.S. degree is preferred. EIT is desired. Coursework and/or experience (internship or co-op) in hydraulics with emphasis on one or more of the following areas: wastewater treatment, water treatment, water distribution, or storm water modeling. Ability to accurately perform calculations to support detailed design recommendations. Good communication skills with the ability to write technical reports and actively participate in project meetings. Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members from multiple offices. Experience with AutoCAD (Civil3D), Water
CAD, SWMM, GIS
is desired. Experience in hydrologic/hydraulic analysis software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRAS, XP-SWMM, Biowin and/or other similar software packages is desired. Valid driver's license is required. Compensation & Benefits Starting salary range: $74,880 - $79,040 + hiring bonus + annual performance bonus.
