Engineer I - Water/Wastewater RK&K parental leave, paid time off, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) United States, Virginia, Blacksburg Sep 29, 2026 Our Water/Wastewater team is looking for an Engineer I to join our team in Roanoke or Blacksburg, Virginia. In this role you will perform design and project delivery for a wide range of water/wastewater projects, including facilities upgrades, water distribution systems, and sewage collection systems. This is an opportunity to work hands-on with a team of experienced project managers that will provide mentorship and encourage your growth in a truly collaborative environment while supporting our municipal clients. Essential Functions Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment facilities

Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water and wastewater systems

Assist with the preparation and review of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents

Assist with project management activities for select tasks and develop project management skills for expanded responsibilities

Support field testing and investigations when required

Support construction projects with office engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders) when required

Communicate effectively and coordinate with the project team including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, structural engineers, CAD designers, and others Required Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field

Zero to two years of experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water and wastewater facilities and conveyance infrastructure (pipelines, force mains, and pump stations)

A self-starter, versatile, and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting our Water and Wastewater Group

A solution minded individual with an appetite for learning and growth

Excellent technical writing and communication skills required Preferred Skills and Experience Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint

Excellent organizational and presentation skills
