DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The Enrollment Data Research Technician is responsible for processing new enrollment packets, researching family lineage, and calculating Indian blood quantum to determine eligibility for membership in the Gila River Indian Community. This position updates and maintains the accuracy of the Community's Membership Roll and performs other duties of moderate difficulty in genealogy research, records management, and interpretation of Title 3, the Membership Ordinance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 Conduct extensive family history research for new enrollment processing; utilize enrollment records or other resources to verify and document direct lineage and total Indian blood quantum.  Enter information into the Enrollment database to update and create new member records; scan documents into the department repository, and create physical file; update and maintain information to ensure accurate enrollment data.  Create Lineal Genealogy Charts to document up to five generations of direct lineage, Indian blood quantum, and tribal affiliations for all members; maintain supporting documents in appropriate files.  Review and process documents submitted to Enrollment and update files as necessary; document changes to information or guardianship; provide requested information to departments and other agencies in accordance with approved policies.  Work with other tribal enrollment offices and federal agencies to obtain required enrollment documents and other information needed to complete files or further department research.  Assist individuals applying for membership by reviewing application and supporting documents to make initial determination of eligibility; provide information regarding the enrollment, denial, or relinquishment processes.  Identify and present enrollment data discrepancies to the Enrollment Director, which includes recommendations for correction.
