The Environmental Services Tech I is responsible for a variety of environmental services duties to ensure a clean, sanitary, pleasant environment essential for quality care of patients, visitors, and staff. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Environmental Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. This is a full-time position working from 3:00pm-11:30pm with rotating weekends.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The individual in this position reports to the Environmental Services Director. This position works closely with all hospital staff and other Environmental Services staff in order to provide a clean, sanitary, pleasant environment.SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
(not limited to): Cleans patient rooms: washes ceilings, walls, windows, and shades. Wipes down all surfaces, dusts, mops, and wet mops. Strips, washes, and makes beds. Cleans in all areas of the Hospital, Professional Center, and Pioneer Medical Center. Picks up garbage, washes wastebaskets, relines with clean plastic liners. Cleans lighting fixtures, tops of doors, vents, and other high areas. Removes and replaces cubicle curtains, shower curtains. Washes cubicle strings and shower curtains. Cleans patient, public, and staff restrooms. Cleans ice machines. Defrosts and cleans refrigerators. Washes sinks, plumbing fixtures, drinking fountains, stainless steel mirrors, furniture, equipment, and casters. Cleans carpet stains. Cleans occupied and terminated isolation rooms. Delivers clean linen. Picks up soiled linen. Will be available by page, phone, or radio while on duty, with no reports of non‑response. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization's values. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization. Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED.Experience:
One year of Environmental Services experience preferredSkills/Competencies:
Ability to read and write and follow oral and written instructions. Must be alert to hazards. Knowledge of common cleaning supplies and equipment; mops, dry and wet vacuums. Ability to use ladders. Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist.Critical thinking skills:
Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines. Demonstrates competency in ability to care for customers/patients across the age continuum.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional climbing and crawling/kneeling. Ability to lift /carry up to 50 lbs. Frequent walking, sitting/standing, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting, carrying, bending/stooping/crouching, twisting/turning and repetitive movement. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
