out of 5 stars 35 Wildcat Way, Kellogg, ID 83837 $23.51 an hour - Full-time Panhandle Health District 20 reviews $23.51 an hour - Full-time Panhandle Health District is seeking a full-time Environmental Health Specialist I to support the Institutional Controls Program (ICP) in Kellogg, Idaho. The Environmental Health Specialist I (EHS1) within the Institutional Controls Program (ICP) serves as a Public Outreach Coordinator focused on protecting community health. This role provides education on lead safety and environmental cleanup through presentations at schools, community events, and meetings with local partners and organizations. Responsibilities include planning and supporting outreach activities, developing and distributing educational materials, and maintaining communication with community and agency stakeholders. The position also represents the program at public and civic meetings, some held in the evenings and occasionally on weekends. In addition, the EHS1 delivers health and safety trainings, including contractor licensing classes, and provides educational presentations to realtors, industry groups, and the general public. Qualifications and Proficiencies:
Maintain 40-hour
HAZWOPER
certification Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and general data entry Experience teaching lead health education in a school setting Experience in a general office setting within health department facilities Ability to represent PHD at booths at local events, in both indoor and outdoor settings Understanding of the potential exposure to severe weather, physical hazards, infectious diseases, toxic substances, and hazardous materials Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills Familiarity with computers, fax machines, copiers, district or personal vehicles, and environmental/public health equipment and supplies Valid driver's license (Idaho or Washington) or ability to obtain one if relocating, and ability to travel locally National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (IS)100, 700 within one (1) month of employment
Physical Requirements:
Due to the need for all Health Department personnel to respond to public health emergencies, the employee must be assessed for his/her ability to meet the physical demands of performing the following activities: Engage in the following movements: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, and writing and repetitive motions. To move objects, exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly. Hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Visual ability must be sufficient to read typewritten documents, computer screens, and drive a car If unable to demonstrate these abilities based upon a standardized, objective assessment performed by external occupational health professionals, all reasonable accommodations will be made in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and any other applicable Federal and Idaho law.
