(856) 773-5800 Environmental Specialist This role supports a manufacturing organization by overseeing environmental compliance across air, waste, water, and chemical regulations at a facility level. The position is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, managing environmental data and reporting, and supporting environmental management systems in a complex industrial environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations related to air, water, waste, and chemical usage.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain permits, reports, and compliance documentation across environmental programs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies for inspections, audits, and compliance inquiries.
  • Collect, track, and report environmental data for internal metrics and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate environmental testing, monitoring, and reporting for air, water, and waste systems.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling programs, including vendor coordination and facility audits.
  • Maintain and support the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), including procedures, audits, corrective actions, and compliance tracking.
  • Conduct environmental training, including hazardous waste and compliance practices.
  • Track energy usage and support sustainability initiatives, including carbon footprint reporting and reduction efforts.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, including corporate and third-party environmental reviews.
  • Support incident investigations related to environmental events, including spills and releases.
  • Maintain environmental tracking systems and databases.
  • Support regulatory requirements related to material handling and transportation.
  • Manage multiple priorities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements Requirements:
  • Availability to work a standard Monday through Friday schedule in an onsite manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of environmental compliance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Experience working directly with regulatory agencies or compliance inspections.
  • Experience preparing environmental reports and plans (e.g., TRI, SPCC, SWPPP, air and water permits).
  • Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and data tracking/reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage and submit data through regulatory systems and government platforms.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • DOT Hazmat awareness or certification preferred.
ISO 14001
auditor certification is a plus.
