Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Environmental Engineer, the Environmental Technician supports compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements and environmental standards. This role focuses on field implementation of environmental programs, monitoring, inspections, and assisting with reporting to ensure an environmentally sound operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct field monitoring activities related to air, water, wildlife, soils, vegetation, meteorology and archaeology Collect environmental samples and data necessary for compliance monitoring and reporting following proper techniques and assuring quality control Calibrate and maintain monitoring instruments to include routine maintenance Troubleshoot sampling equipment, pumps, weather stations, transducers or other equipment, as necessary Manage sample collection and shipment process in accordance with standards and maintain accurate documentation Collect, enter, review and analyze environmental data into various systems for tracking purposes Assist with preparation of routine submittals to regulatory agencies to document system performance and compliance with permit requirements Maintain knowledge of sampling procedures and protocols in accordance with recognized industry standards Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or Applied Sciences, preferred 1-3 years of environmental field experience in an industrial/mining setting, preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong computer skills, required Exemplary safety and attendance record required Must maintain a valid Nevada driver's license Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain safely Must be able to safely operate a 4WD vehicle during all seasons Ability to lift 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation required Self-starter and ability to work with little or no supervision required Strong oral, verbal and interpersonal skills required Ability to interact positively with multiple departments required Technical writing abilities associated with recordkeeping and reports preferred Florida Canyon is an equal opportunity employer, values diversity in its workforce, and encourages applications from qualified candidates.
