Position Objective:
The Equestrian Supervisor will organize, lead, and supervise a program of instructional and recreational horse-barn activities designed to meet each participant's needs. The Equestrian Supervisor is responsible for the total health and welfare of the horses as well as the weekly population-specific horse programming for the campers.Position Pay & Employment Dates:
This is a seasonal, part-time position, paid at an hourly rate of $18.00 for an average of 25 hours per week. The anticipated start date is May 16th, 2026 (tentative due to aspects of training), and the summer season runs until August 14th, 2026.Job Functions:
Organize all barn events and activities, managing tasks such as acquiring horse-barn releases, assigning responsibilities, and scheduling equine program staff. Conduct training sessions for staff, ensuring their readiness for various responsibilities. Design and deliver engaging programs for campers. Assess and adapt activities to accommodate campers of different ability levels. Demonstrate awareness of inherent risks associated with horses and barnyard animals, balancing it with the creation of engaging and safe programs. Anticipate and manage risks related to horses, barnyard animals, campers, and staff. Implement a comprehensive risk management strategy to prioritize the safety of all participants, staff, and volunteers. Acknowledge inherent risks while ensuring an engaging and secure environment. Interact collaboratively and act as a team player with fellow staff, participants, and volunteers. Establish positive working relationships to enhance the overall camp experience. Serve as a positive role model for program participants, Equine Staff, Program Staff, Counselors, C.I.T.s (Counselors-In-Training), and volunteers. Complete required paperwork promptly, including incident/accident reports. Assume responsibility for maintaining order, cleanliness, safety, and care of horses, barnyard animals, tack, and the barnyard/program area. Conduct regular inventories and preparations to ensure the program area, equipment, and supplies are well-maintained throughout the camp season. Work collaboratively with the Camp Director and Program Manager to order necessary supplies. Ensure the general barnyard area is stocked and organized to support smooth operations. Coordinate "after-hour" care for horses and other animals. Uphold and embody the camp's mission and values in all aspects of the role. Collaborate with fellow staff to create a positive and inclusive camp environment. Attend mandatory training sessions to stay updated on best practices and camp protocols.Marginal Responsibilities:
All other duties as assigned. Education/Experience Requirements Current certification by an accredited horsemanship instructor training organization (CHA, PATH, etc.) OR documented proof of a minimum of three (3) years of experience successfully instructing in a horseback riding program. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in a management or supervisory position at a horseback riding program/facility, including stable management, care and feeding of horses, scheduling, staff supervision, training, and equipment care. Some college experience, preferably in equine science, therapeutic riding, recreation, or related fields. Previous experience, knowledge, and/or interest in leading programs for a variety of populations. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred. Competency Requirements Ability and desire to work with persons of all ages, ability levels, and backgrounds in a dynamic outdoor environment. Ability to understand and remember considerable amounts of information relative to teaching and facilitating in the fields of environmental and challenge education. Demonstrate an ability to enforce safety regulations, instruct/assist campers participating in equestrian activity, and apply proper emergency procedures. Availability to work flexible hours and readiness to respond promptly to emergencies if they arise beyond scheduled hours. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have visual ability sufficient to read and complete written correspondence, as required. Regular use of hands to grasp, handle, or feel. Regular standing, walking, sitting, climbing, grabbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Occasionally lift and/or carry up to fifty (50) pounds. Ability to independently navigate Timber Pointe's 170-acre facility. Work Environment Outdoor camp environment with exposure to all types of weather and conditions, including extreme heat, cold, snow, rain, etc. Prior to applying to Timber Pointe Outdoor Center's 2026 Summer Team, please be prepared to commit to providing the safest camp environment possible.
