Equine Specialist

Do you have a passion for horses, healing, and helping others? Renewing Hope Strategies is seeking a compassionate and experienced Equine Specialist to join our growing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and wellness program serving children, teens, adults, families, veterans, and underserved populations throughout Riverside County. This is more than a ranch position. This is an opportunity to be part of a mission-driven behavioral health team helping restore hope through trauma-informed care, equine connection, and community healing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist licensed therapists during equine-assisted psychotherapy sessions Monitor horse behavior, safety, and suitability for sessions Groom, tack, feed, and support overall horse wellness Prepare arenas and therapeutic activity spaces Support youth groups, family programs, wellness events, and outreach activities Help maintain a calm, safe, and therapeutic ranch environment Assist with volunteer coordination and ranch activities Participate in community outreach and special events

QUALIFICATIONS

Horse handling and equine experience required Strong understanding of horse behavior and safety Calm, patient, and compassionate personality Experience working with children, families, or behavioral health populations preferred Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Team-oriented with strong communication skills CPR/First Aid certification preferred Experience in OK CORRAL, EAGALA, PATH, or equine-assisted therapy programs preferred but not required

Pay:

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
