Equipment & Small Engine Mechanic

Aztec Rental is a multi-location equipment and event rental company serving Southwest Virginia. We've been locally owned and operated since 1976. Our shop handles a wide mix of equipment — from diesel skid steers and excavators to small engine tools, trailers, and fleet vehicles — and we need a mechanic who can work across that range. We have enough small engine work to keep someone fully occupied in that lane, but we're looking for someone who can cross-train and help across the board. You don't have to be an expert in everything, but you need to be genuinely skilled in at least one area and willing to learn the others. What you'll work on: Diesel-powered equipment: skid steers, mini excavators, boom lifts Small engine equipment: generators, pressure washers, plate compactors, augers, tillers, saws Light vehicles and trailers (gas and diesel) 12V/24V electrical systems, charging systems, basic hydraulic controls What we're looking for: At least 2 years of paid mechanical experience Hands-on diesel equipment experience is required — not just automotive Strong small engine background is a major plus Electrical diagnosis experience is a plus; cross-training available for the right candidate Ability to diagnose problems independently, not just replace parts Reliable, shows up on time, communicates clearly What we offer: $22-$27/hour depending on experience Full-time, stable hours Team that's been together a long time — low drama, high competence Work that's actually varied — you won't be doing the same thing every day

Pay:

$24.00 - $27.00 per hour Application Question(s): Do you have hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing diesel-powered equipment (skid steers, excavators, similar)?
