Job Summary:
The ER Tech II performs under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and is responsible for maintaining an organized work area and secretarial function involving the supplies and computer. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Performance Expectations:
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide technical care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to collect data and relays appropriate data to the nurse, status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates skills to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Embraces and practices We Care philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker, employee and non-employee care. Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation, shift reports and verbal communication. Communicates pertinent patient information to all health care team members. Maintains own clinical skills, staying current in skills, ongoing competencies, equipment and certifications to include telemetry monitoring and Basic Life Support certification. Demonstrates technical aptitude for working, troubleshooting, and assisting the nurse with multiple pieces of equipment used for patient care, including but not limited to telemetry monitoring devices and blood glucose monitoring. Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes established values of the organization, i.e., customer service, safety, infection control and compliance standards. Demonstrates the ability to perform EKG tracing and correctly place telemetry monitor leads on patients. Demonstrates the ability to assist professional nursing staff in the caring for patients requiring emergency resuscitation. Proves the ability to perform phlebotomy and collection of specimens according to policy and procedure. Demonstrates the ability to document vital signs and patient encounters appropriately in the EMR. Demonstrates the ability to set up sterile trays while maintaining the sterile field while assisting providers with various procedures. Reveals the ability to tolerate the physically demanding task of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or the patient. Demonstrates the ability to stock linens and supplies according to PAR levels in the ED. Exhibits the ability to use proper phone etiquette. Demonstrates the ability to provide 1:1 monitoring for suicide precaution, restraint use, de-escalation and peaceful interventions. Demonstrates the ability to clean rooms terminally and in between patients discharged Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Computer literacy preferred. Must complete education/training on suicide precautions, 1:1 monitoring, restraint use, and de-escalation and peaceful interventions during orientation and annually. Completion of the telemetry monitoring class, 36 hours minimum of training with a current Monitor Tech at FGH and successful pass of telemetry post-test are required within 6 months of the hire date if the class is available and staffing permits.

Able to prioritize and meet project deadlines; have good written and verbal communications skills; ability to maintain rapport. Ability to function in emergency situations, understand the emotional stress of patients and families.
