Aug 1, 2026 Job Description Position Summary Sparta High School is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Esports Coach to lead and develop the school's competitive esports program through the MHSEL League. The coach will oversee student participation during both competitive seasons, foster a positive team culture, and support students in developing communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through esports participation. The ideal candidate is passionate about student engagement, understands the educational value of esports, and is committed to helping students grow both competitively and personally in a structured school environment. Essential Responsibilities Program Leadership Organize, supervise, and lead the Sparta High School esports program during both MHSEL competitive seasons Coordinate practices, match schedules, roster management, and team communication Ensure compliance with MHSEL, district, and school eligibility requirements and expectations Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, digital citizenship, and respectful competition Student Development Build positive relationships with students while fostering an inclusive and welcoming team culture Support student growth in communication, collaboration, leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills Encourage academic accountability and balance between school responsibilities and esports participation Mentor students in both competitive gameplay and personal development Collaboration & School Engagement Collaborate with school staff, administration, and families to support student success and program growth Assist in recruiting and retaining student participants from diverse backgrounds and skill levels Promote the esports program within the school and community through events, communication, and outreach Support opportunities for college, career, and STEM connections related to esports, technology, media, and digital communication Program Operations Monitor and maintain esports equipment and gaming space Communicate effectively with students and families regarding schedules, expectations, and updates Maintain appropriate supervision during practices and competitions Stay informed about league updates, game titles, competition rules, and best practices in school esports Qualifications Experience with esports, gaming communities, or competitive gaming preferred Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families Demonstrated ability to create a positive and inclusive student environment Experience working with high school students preferred Knowledge of MHSEL esports competition structure preferred Preferred Characteristics The ideal candidate is: Student-centered and relationship-driven Positive, organized, and dependable Passionate about educational esports opportunities Able to build community and student engagement Committed to professionalism and sportsmanshipPosition Type:
