Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team specializing in civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate project estimates, collaborating with project teams, and ensuring cost-effective solutions throughout the bidding process. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse civil construction projects, utilizing your expertise in construction estimating and project management to contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure developments. Duties Read and interpret pertinent bid documents and plans Prepare for and attend all required plan reviews conducted by client. Perform quantity takeoffs from civil construction plans and documents Develop the project scope and identify necessary disciplines Identify subcontractor roles Evaluate DBE participation to ensure project goals are met Identify constructability issues Identify value engineering opportunities Solicit bids from vendors and subcontractors and timely delivery of bids. Coordinate pre-bid activities and inquiries with clients Develop and review project estimates and schedules ($1M-$30M) Develop comprehensive bid proposals that include pricing strategies, scopes of work, and risk assessments Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to negotiate contracts and scope changes effectively. Provide direction and assistance to junior team members Develop and deliver project bid packages Monitor economic progress of projects Experience Required Engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience. Ability to formulate and calculate mathematical expressions to obtain the desired quantity measurement and cost information. Read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and bid documents. Computer Skills must include
AGTEK/BLUEBEAM
(or similar) Excel, Outlook, and Word. Possess technical construction awareness regarding available products, means and methods. Must be proactive and possess time management and multi-tasking skills to complete multiple estimates and proposals at a time. Ability to track job costs and maintain cost databases used for basis of estimates. Must be able analyze all aspects of assigned bids including subcontractor scope/pricing and labor productivity for self-performed work. Must be able to offer insight regarding project schedule for matters relating to site work construction. Knowledgeable in available construction equipment Associates or Bachelor's degree in a construction related field preferred Associates or bachelor's degree in a construction-related field 4 -7 years of experience as a civil construction estimator Previous experience with estimating software HeavyBid or equivalent 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience. 2 years estimating, engineering or similar experience related to sitework construction preferred. Knowledge of means and methods related to earthwork cut/fill, excavation support systems, deep foundations, and groundwater dewatering. Knowledge of estimating techniques and material pricing required.
