Job Description
Extended School Year (ESY) Staff Posting - Summer 2026To provide direct, special education instruction and related services to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individual Education Programs (IEPs) during the summer of 2026.All positions are contingent on student enrollment and funding
Demonstrate an understanding of the assigned students learning profiles.
Demonstrate initiative and creativity with students and their program.
Follow through with prescribed behavioral management programs.
Maintain classroom environment to support student learning, as directed by the teacher.
Correct students work; photocopies materials; keeps logs and records as directed by the teacher; writes lessons/notes on the board.
Implement accommodations on IEP (ie. taking student notes, reading to the student,administering tests orally, etc.).Available and ready to assist the special education teachers as needed to support student learning.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to bend at the neck more than the average person. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment. Occasionally, will assist in physical management of students.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

Program Dates:
July 06 August 06, 2026Days:
We are seeking Teaching Assistants for various programs with schedules ranging from four days a week (Monday through Thursday) to part-time roles specifically for Monday and Tuesday.Hours:
Daily schedules vary by program, with shifts ranging from 3.5 to 5.5 hours per day depending on the specific needs of the assigned classroom.SUMMARY:
Assist teachers in the special education Extended School Year (ESY) classroom with daily activities which support student learning. This is determined by the students IEPs and the directives of the teachers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned): Assist the teacher in routine classroom operations.Demonstrate an understanding of the assigned students learning profiles.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises students in the absence of the teacher for brief, discrete periods of time.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of an associates degree at an accredited college/university. Previous experience with special education studentsLANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to develop and interpret graphs, tables, and charts.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to work with the assigned special education student population. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
