Nursing Assistant Job Description Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic teaching hospital environment. This position involves working closely with patients, assisting them with daily activities, and ensuring their comfort and well-being. A strong commitment to patient care, along with the ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, is essential. Duties Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating. Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff. Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record systems like Epic. Implement aseptic techniques to prevent infections and ensure patient safety. Provide support in geriatrics and hospice care settings, focusing on comfort and dignity for patients. Assist in mobility and transportation of patients within the facility. Educate patients and families on basic care techniques and health management. Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care. Support individuals with disabilities by providing personalized assistance tailored to their needs. Requirements Certification as a Nursing Assistant or equivalent training is preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in geriatrics or hospice care, is an advantage. Knowledge of basic life support (BLS) techniques is required. Familiarity with medical records management systems, particularly Epic, is beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards of care. Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and compassion in all interactions with patients. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed in a fast-paced environment.
