Full-Time Position Summary:
Wilson Bros Construction is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mainline Excavator Operator to join our field operations team. This role is responsible for operating heavy equipment to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utility systems including water, sewer, and other utilities. The ideal candidate has experience working around live utilities, understands trench safety, and can perform precise excavation in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to dig trenches, backfill, and perform grading for utility installation Safely expose existing underground utilities using proper digging techniques Read and interpret site plans, utility maps, and grade stakes Work closely with crew members, foremen, and project managers to complete projects efficiently Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance Follow all OSHA and company safety standards at all times Assist with general labor tasks when needed
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating excavators in utility or construction work Knowledge of underground utility systems and safe digging practices Ability to read plans and grade stakes preferred Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to safety Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required) Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments
Preferred Skills:
Experience with GPS machine control systems Experience working around pressurized or live utility lines Strong communication and teamwork skills How to
