Job Description

Position Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic (Lineman Trade) will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of diesel-powered equipment and utility vehicles essential to power line operations. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical skills with knowledge of lineman tools, equipment, and safety protocols in the electric utility industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and related power-train systems in trucks, digger derricks, bucket trucks, and other utility vehicles. Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, and component replacements, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with safety standards. Fabricate or modify equipment components as required to maintain or improve performance. Assist lineman teams in the preparation and safe use of vehicles and equipment for daily utility operations. Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, and report equipment issues promptly. Adhere to all OSHA, utility, and internal safety guidelines while performing mechanical work in the field.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic; specific experience on utility trucks and lineman equipment preferred. Familiarity with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems common in utility vehicles. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals. Valid driver's license; commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions and lift heavy loads as required.
Preferred Credentials:
ASE certifications in diesel mechanics. Experience working in the electric utility industry. Knowledge of OSHA and utility-specific safety standards.
