Salary Range :
Engineer III
  • 3+ years of experience FE required. In lieu of FE, 2 additional years of experience are required. $80,000
  • $119,000
  • Commensurate (dependent on experience, education, and qualifications)E Engineer IV
  • 5+ years of experience FE required. In lieu of FE, 2 additional years required PE preferred $92,000
  • $140,000

Your Role:
Experienced Substation Protection Engineer
  • Relay Settings The Substation Protection Engineer
  • Relay Settings is responsible for system protection settings associated with protective relay systems for the transmission and distribution systems.
What You'll Do Apply knowledge of protection schemes and philosophies commonly applied to Transmission and Distribution (T&D) substations. Conduct power system calculations, including short circuit calculation, current transformer performance, and ratio selection, over-current element coordination, zone-distance element selection, and coordination, and relay loadability calculations. Utilize Aspen, ETAP, or equivalent as a primary tool to run various cases, interpret results, and develop the best possible bus, transformer, generator, and line protection settings. Read and interpret electrical single lines, three lines, schematics, functional diagrams, etc. Provide technical guidance for various relay settings schemes for basic and advanced system topologies to ensure the quality of deliverables while meeting individual client preferences. Assist project manager to develop scope of work and conceptual design for the projects. Attend meetings and conferences, as necessary, to keep informed of technical development in the power industry as it pertains to T&D Protection. Perform quality control and peer checking on settings calculation, documentation, and fault analysis studies. What You Bring πŸŽ“
Education :
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university πŸ“Š
Experience :
3+ years, minimum, of direct relay settings experience Hands-on experience in testing equipment using Doble, OMICRON, or Megger. Familiarity with DNP and SEL communication protocols. Experience in configuring SEL microprocessor relays is required. Experience with other microprocessor relay vendors, and electromechanical relays, is preferred. Experience with ETAP, AcSELerator, and ASPEN is preferred. πŸ’‘
Skills :
Capable of managing small projects, or tasks on a larger scale project, and ability to mentor lesser experienced engineers and technicians Sufficient PC skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) πŸ’¬
